GABRIEL FANCOURT

Gabriel Fancourt is a 2010 graduate from NIDA where he played Jack in Lord of the Flies, Oberon in A Midsummer Nights Dream and Tom in This Property is Condemned. Gabriel’s further theatre work includes Griffin’s 24 hour play generator, Rough Draft 16, Rough Draft 19 and Rough 21 for Sydney Theatre Company, Dirtyland for the New Theatre, K.I.J.E in association with Old Fitz and STC and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, The Tempest and A Comedy of Errors for Sport for Jove theatre company. He has also appeared in Cry Havoc’s Titus Andronicus at ATYP, Punk Rock at ATYP, Fallout for The Old Fitz, Ich Habe Genuch for the Sydney Chamber Opera, The Incredible Book Eating Boy for CDP, Henry V for Bell Shakespeare, Edward II with SFJ and Babes in the Woods with Redline and Don’t Look Away Productions.

As a teacher Gabriel has tutored groups and individuals at HSC level with Byron Bay High School, as well as working one on one with Nida auditionees. In 2015 Gabriel worked with Sport For Jove’s annual Shakespeare Carnival, rehearsing scenes and duologues with year 8, 9 and 10 students, with a focus on scene building and text analysis. Gabriel has also taught as part of Sport for Jove’s week long Shakespeare residence with MLC’s year 7 students, working with groups of 25-30 on devised plays that touch on themes from Shakespeare’s major works with a strong focus on drama games and an introduction to performance based exercises. Gabriel also regularly teaches as part of Sport for Jove’s Symposium Workshops, breaking down a major play scene by scene through a series of lectures and exercises focusing on group devised work and an introduction to text.
